Anna Mayhew
Dr Anna Mayhew is a Consultant Research Physiotherapist at the MRC Centre for Neuromuscular Diseases at Newcastle, Newcastle University, UK.
Anna initially specialized in pediatrics and neonates and gained a PhD in predicting outcome in preterm infants.
Since 2009 she has worked for the Newcastle Muscle Center where she is a consultant research physiotherapist involved in clinical and research activity for children and adults.
Prior to this she was Network Coordinator for Smartnet, a UK based project on the collection of clinical measures for spinal muscular atrophy (SMA).
Anna has published several articles on the development of outcome measures for use in various neuromuscular diseases including Duchenne muscular distrophy (DMD) and SMA. These have incorporated the use of modern psychometrics.
Anna is a consultant for various pharmaceutical companies specifically relating to clinical endpoints including Prosensa, PTC and ISIS, She is involved in training clinical evaluators for clinical trials both in DMD, SMA and other adult conditions and in the ongoing development of clinically relevant measures for use in neuromuscular trials.
